If you have found yourself here, I'm guessing it wasn't by accident! Maybe you are looking for a boost, got some things you want to deal with this year? Spring has finally sprung...perhaps you want to put that spring back in your step? Looking for some help with extra confidence? Maybe your relationship could use a little TLC? Whatver, however, whoever the reason - welcome...I am happy you found your way here! My name is Ashley and I am a Counsellor, specialising in relationship therapy and I'm experienced in working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, low mood/confidence, separation/divorce, work stress, bereavement etc.
My aim is to offer a warm, nurturing and confidential environment to support you in exploring, discovering and resolving some of the challenging areas in your life that may be holding you back, creating inbalance or bringing sadness. My approach is not prescriptive and is client led promoting growth and change.
With a fairly adventurous upbringing and a diverse background, I definitely have a taste for life and have always been fascinated by people and the relationships that connect us. Navigating my way through motherhood and my own relationship has influenced my approach to therapy and has certainly offered additional insight.
The therapeutic relationship is imperative to the outcome of any type of therapy and therefore it is incredibly important that you choose a counsellor wisely. Having an initial consultation can help you to decide whether you feel comfortable, you can ask questions about the counsellors experience and approach and this begins the collaborative relationship. Counsellors vary with experience, qualifications and their approaches to therapy and are governed by different professional bodies. I offer a consultation session for £35 - this is 50 minutes long and gives you the opportunity to meet me, hear about how I work and we can decide together if I am the right therapist for you.
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy is a professional body and in 2013 the BACP Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists became the first psychological therapists' register to be accredited under a scheme set up by the Department of Health and administered by an independent body, accountable to Parliament. The scheme means that, for the first time, members of the public can choose a counsellor or psychotherapist belonging to a register approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
